Now that I have received it I find that the user manual is next to useless with no clear instructions (as I see it) and, what is far more important, it needs an internet connection for the speech to text feature to work. Nobody advertises that we need a WiFi connection and we do not have one so this feature is useless - this is the main reason I bought this model as opposed to another.
Even the main Ectaco site does not state that we need a WiFi connection - why not?
It does say on our website right on the page of the item '* The free speech function is available in the 'Translate' application when connected to a WiFi network. The Partner LUX uses two independent Text Translation systems: one is built in and there is no Internet connection required to operate it and another one is Internet-based and requires Wi-Fi connection. '
No one makes an Offline Free Speech feature, it just does not exist.
Keep in mind, the text translation feature can be used entirely offline and is extremely accurate.
If you have specific question about its operation feel free to ask.
